Susannah Apuzzo

Director, Legal & Investments

Susannah is a director on our investment team, and also brings to Kudu her legal background and expertise. Before joining Kudu, Susannah was an associate at Sidley Austin LLP in London where she worked on a broad range of matters in the firm’s restructuring, private equity, and capital markets practices. She holds a BA, summa cum laude from Fordham University and a JD from Harvard Law School. She is admitted to the Bar in the State of New York.

Patrick Chan

Senior Associate, Finance & Valuation

Patrick is a senior associate supporting valuation of portfolio companies, portfolio monitoring, investment review, financial reporting, and due diligence analysis for Kudu. Before joining Kudu, Patrick worked within the Wealth and Asset Management practice with Ernst & Young LLP, later joining JAZ Advisers as a senior associate.

Lindsay Hanig

Manager, Partner Services

Lindsay is part of our Partner Services group, which supports Kudu’s affiliates. Before joining Kudu, Lindsay worked as a personal assistant and tutor in New York City and as production coordinator for the New York WILD Film Festival. She holds a BA from Trinity College, Hartford, CT.

Rob Jakacki

Managing Partner, Chief Executive Officer & Chief Investment Officer

Rob is the CEO and oversees all investment activities for Kudu, encompassing portfolio strategy, deal sourcing, analysis, transaction structuring, due diligence and monitoring. He was previously a co-founder and CIO of Asset Management Finance, LLC, where he oversaw new investments. Before AMF, he was a Vice President in the structured finance unit at Putnam Lovell NBF Securities and was an associate at First Union National Bank. He holds a masters in International Management from Thunderbird School of Global Management and a BA from Dickinson College.

Quinn Keeler

Director of Partner Services

Quinn is responsible for client support, including marketing and public relations, at Kudu. She was previously Senior Vice President, Research & Surveys at Institutional Shareholder Services (ISS) and its former iterations, Strategic Insight, and Asset International, Inc., where she launched the survey and research product line in 1996. She holds a BA from Colgate University.

Gavin McLeod

Partner & Chief Financial Officer

At Kudu, Gavin oversees finance and transaction support, which encompasses investment analysis, due diligence, and ongoing monitoring. Previously, he was a Principal at Asset Management Finance, LLC where he managed financial due diligence and operations. He was also CFO at Aligned Asset Managers, a GTCR-backed investment firm and was also a Director in KPMG’s Transaction Services Group where he led M&A due diligence engagements for strategic and private equity investors. Gavin is a Certified Public Accountant (U.S.) and Chartered Accountant (Australia). He holds a Commerce degree with Honors from Monash University, Australia.

Shubham Mittal

Associate, Investments

Shubham is an investment associate and works on Kudu’s deal evaluation and execution. Before joining Kudu, Shubham was an investment banking analyst in the energy and power group at Wells Fargo Securities, where he prepared valuation analyses and merger models and advised on mergers and acquisitions, capital markets activities and other strategic transactions across the oil and gas industry. Shubham holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting, Economics and Finance from Baylor University.

Jingwen Nie, CPA

Director, Finance & Valuation

Jingwen is a director, supporting valuation of portfolio companies, portfolio monitoring, investment review, financial reporting, and due diligence analysis at Kudu. Before joining Kudu, Jingwen worked in real estate audit with Ernst & Young LLP and in hedge fund accounting with the Blackstone Group. Jingwen is a CPA and holds a BS in Economics from Beijing Foreign Studies University and an MS in Accountancy from Wake Forest University.

Nick Platt, Jr.

Partner, Chief Operating Officer & Chief Compliance Officer

Nick is responsible for operations, deal support and compliance at Kudu. He was previously a co-founder and managing partner of Kudu Advisors, LLC, an asset management M&A advisor where he was involved in transactions in the target date fund, investment outsourcing, and defined contribution areas. Before that he was Chief Operating Officer of Asset International, Inc., a publisher and information service provider to the retirement, asset management, alternative investments, and securities services industries. Previously, Nick was a financial correspondent at Reuters in New York. He holds a BA from Vassar College.

Ben Ruffel, CFA

Director of Distribution Strategies

Ben leads our distribution advisory engagement with Kudu’s partners, focusing on growth and marketing strategies. Before joining Kudu, Ben was a Vice President at PIMCO, and served as an account manager for the firm’s public pension clients. Previously, he spent five years at NISA Investment Advisors, an institutional asset manager, working in client services. Ben holds a BA with honors, magna cum laude from Washington and Lee University, and an MBA with honors in analytic finance from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. He is a CFA charterholder.

Charlie Ruffel

Managing Partner & Chairman

Charlie is responsible for external activities at Kudu including marketing, deal sourcing, and capital raising. He was previously a co-founder and managing partner of Kudu Advisors, LLC, an asset management M&A advisor where he oversaw transactions in the target date fund, investment outsourcing, and defined contribution spaces. Before that he was co-founder and CEO of Asset International, Inc., a publisher and information service provider to the retirement, asset management, alternative investments, and securities services industries. There he founded PLANSPONSOR, PLANADVISER, Global Custodian, and Chief Investment Officer magazines and various websites, data businesses, and conferences. He holds an MA from Cambridge University and an MS from Columbia University.

Chris Shin

Deputy Chief Investment Officer

Chris leads the firm’s principal investment activities, including underwriting, due diligence and structuring, as well as monitoring of Kudu’s affiliate investments. He holds Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degrees in Finance and Economics from Emory University.

Ethan Trieu

Analyst, Investments

Ethan is an analyst in Kudu’s investment group and works on research and deal evaluation. Ethan is a recent graduate of Bentley University where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Finance.

Josephine Wong

Office Manager & Executive Assistant

Josephine manages Kudu’s office logistics, personnel and IT. Before she joined Kudu, Josephine was an administrative assistant in the institutional client group at PIMCO, and prior to that she was a production assistant manager at United Footwear Group. She holds an Associate’s degree from Kingsborough College in New York.
